Information about Ethan

My name is Ethan. I graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a major in mathematics. I enjoy helping students with math and excel at developing different ways to explain topics to help people understand. I have been extremely knowledgeable about mathematics since middle school when I taught myself algebra to calculus in 8th grade. I joined my high school math team and ended up in third place in Hawaii in the 2018-2019 school year while being the only person from a public school in the top 10. I was the president of the math team for my last two years of high school and would be responsible for teaching members competition math since we did not have a coach. A fun fact about me unrelated to math is that I was the team captain and in-game leader of the Overwatch team at the University of Hawaii, and we finished in the top 32 in North America multiple times for the four years I was there.

Experience: I have been tutoring for eight years since I started high school. I have helped students with various topics, such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, and calculus, as well as advanced topics, such as number theory, abstract algebra, and linear algebra. I also have six years of experience tutoring students in competition math.

My first story tutoring someone was when I was in Algebra 2, my freshman year of high school. I was sitting next to these two boys who had extreme difficulty understanding math, and it was clear they would not pass if they did not receive help. I decided to help them out for free and worked with them daily. They ended up passing at the end of the year. The two boys took trigonometry and precalculus the next year even though they did not have to, and they both got an A without my help. Ever since then, I have worked with around a hundred students that were happy with the help they received.
