I received my first BA degree in Theater/Film from UC Santa Cruz, and later, a Bachelor of Music degree with Minor in Creative Writing from CSU Northridge. At CSU Northridge the English Department unanimously awarded me a cash prize for one of my poems. My Post-Graduate studies at UCLA Extension and University of San Diego gained me a State of California Teaching Credential with specializations in English, Communication, Fine Arts and Life Skills, and I hold a Certification in Grant Writing from Loyola Marymount University. I have lived in New York and the Bay Area, and in Paris, France as an exchange student. Near-fluent in Spanish and French, my travels in Mexico, Europe, Japan, parts of Canada, and throughout the United States inform my ability to relate to, appreciate, and teach diverse people of all backgrounds and nationalities. I like to read, create media and write songs, and it is my joy and mission to impart the benefit of my varied Arts and Letters education to my students. Dedicated to promoting student success, I encourage students to see themselves as worthy participants in a college-bound culture.

Experience: A k-12 teacher for 25 years, an Adult ESL Instructor for 15 years, and a published journalist and songwriter, I have been an Academic Writing Coach since 2014. Language Learner students I have coached on their college paper-writing are now Master`s and Doctoral candidates; a high school student whom I tutored is on her way to becoming an attorney with a specialization in Tenants` Rights.

Training with Writer Coach Connection in 2018 and then volunteering as a Writing Coach with students at a Berkeley middle school promotes my ability to advance those who study with me to greater heights of academic writing excellence. The plethora of essay writing I did to gain my two University degrees; my natural ability as an English Language writer and speaker; and my 25 years of teaching combine to make me an engaging and able Academic Writing Coach for students at all levels of their education. Furthermore, it can be said that clear writing is clear thinking. It is my objective, my pleasure, and my privilege to advance the academic writing skill of our next generation of students and in doing so, to support their future academic, civic, and financial success.
