Information about David
Have you ever built a motor from a battery, wire coil, and a magnet? How about measuring the magnetic field of the Earth with one long wire and a meter? I have done all of these things with students. Through research about learning, the brain, and teaching, as well as an insatiable curiosity about our world, I help students learn by becoming actively involved. Lecture? Never â better to guide and assist, to explore and wonder why. Sure, my students also solve equations and problems, but we can take time to talk and see the connections.
My students like working with me; they earn good grades, make excellent speedy progress, and occasionally have a little fun. Among my current students are those who struggle with learning math and those who are earning Aâs but want some extra help to more deeply understand concepts.
Iâm here to give you the personalized attention you deserve so that you can reach your full academic potential.
Availability: I am available most days, evenings & weekends. No Tuesdays after 5 pm.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: My extensive experience includes working with a great variety of students in most areas of math and physics. With patience, I find out what my students know about each dayâs work and build understanding accordingly. Breaking down complex topics into understandable pieces is how I work every hour. Finding extra resources, interesting topics, hands-on tools, and more are just part of my repertoire.
Specialties include algebra 1 & 2, physics, geometry and pre-calculus, but I also have taught AP calculus, math basics, statistics & much more.
