Information about Gerald
My approach to teaching is to treat each student as an individual having a unique background and level of comprehension. Mentoring students requiring extra help can make a significant difference in their understanding of the subject matter. I am fully aware of the difference this can make in allowing individuals to achieve their goals. One individual that I mentored majored in biology but had very little practical chemistry experience. After a year of on-the-job training, she became recognized as one of the companyâs most proficient method development chemists.
As a manager of chemists for 16 years and as a scientist for10 years prior to that, I have often found it necessary to implement hands-on laboratory training in chemistry in order for individuals to attain their full potential within the organization. Mentoring and tutoring employees has been one of the highlights of my role as a manager. Early retirement from an industrial setting allows me to pursue this passion for teaching and mentoring. I believe my enthusiasm for teaching coupled with my extensive industrial experience will make for an effective learning experience.
