My career is centered around math support and the psychology of learning mathematics. Upon request, I created a math support program at RIT for students enrolled in math course from algebra/trig and calculus to statistics and diff eq. I collaborated with each to develop individualized math learning strategies to strengthen their skills, conceptual understanding, fill in background gaps, work through misconceptions. It was important that students had tools for how to learn math that they could apply, such as: multi-representation, problem solving strategies, metacognitive assessment of prior knowledge, use of color, a new perspective on homework, test prep and many more.

Although I have retired from full time math instruction, I continue to pursue opportunities to work with math students, middle school through college level, by volunteering in the Rochester City School District and tutoring,privately. I also volunteer in a kindergarten class at School 45 and in the ROC Music Collaborative teaching cello to grade school and middle school inner city students.

Availability: Sundays, Wednesdays - after 12 noon
Mondays - 9-3
Tuesdays - 12-3
Thursdays, Fridays - all day
Saturday - after 3
Evenings except for Wednesday

• Volunteer math tutor at School 45 and School 12
• algebra Project Math Instructor at 2 RIT summer math camps with students from Edison Tech
