I was raised in the north central United States, and always enjoyed school. As a result, I received my B.A. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor; my M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago Divinity School. Ii also did post-doctoral work at Harvard Divinity School. My love of learning translated easily into my love of teaching.

Experience: I have taught for over 30 years: most notably, for seven years at Boston University, and 26 years at the University of Detroit Mercy in the Religious Studies Department. My liberal and broad-ranging background in the humanities propelled me to develop unusual and quite popular courses for undergraduates: Religion and Film: Religion, Health and Healing; and Violence, Nonviolence and Religion. Every class`s requirements demanded that students learn how to analyze various cultural phenomena, with the aim of enabling them to become independent thinkers. What I enjoy most is encouraging students to write clearly, demonstrating deepened understanding of the topic at hand and good spelling, punctuation and organization of their thoughts on the topic at hand.
