Mary

Mary has been tutoring mathematics, ACT prep, statistics, and economics for a decade, and she is a certified mathematics teacher in multiple states. She graduated from the University of Chicago with general honors and honors in economics. While there, she was on the board of a student organization, WIT, that provided ACT preparation classes to underserved students in Chicago Public Schools for free. Students in the program using the mathematics curriculum she developed for saw, on average, one standard deviation of growth on the ACT exam. After graduation, she earned her Master of Science in Education from Johns Hopkins University while working full-time as a mathematics teacher in DC Public Schools. She worked as a full-time mathematics teacher for four years, including developing a curriculum for a math intervention course and a college-level, dual-enrollment statistics course. Currently, she is earning her Master of Arts in Mathematics from Saint Louis University, where she is also employed as an instructor for undergraduate statistics courses. Her current studies and research are in both pure mathematical theory and statistics. She has experience teaching mathematics and statistics at the middle school, high school, and collegiate level. She is fluent in multiple statistical programs, including R, SPSS, and Stata. She is passionate about making mathematics and statistics accessible to all learners, and particularly to those who may have a negative relationship with mathematics. She specializes in mathematics, statistics, statistical programming, and ACT preparation, and she meets with students remotely. When she isn`t thinking about math, she enjoys hiking, video games, and taking care of her three guinea pigs.
