Hello! My name is Crystal and I`m a recent graduate of Georgia College & State University in the Arts of English. I`m qualified to teach college English and was a consultant for nearly four years, both at GCSU and my undergraduate, Middle Georgia State University. I was awarded the Writing Center Consultant of the year in Spring 2023 because I have a knack for finding the problems that students are struggling with and helping them overcome these difficulties. Writing is a skill, not a talent, and while some people have a natural gift for being able to write, everybody can become better writers. I enjoy working with students (including those with learning challenges) and helping them become better writers over the course of time.

Experience: I have been a writing center consultant for four years between Middle Georgia State University and Georgia College & State University, taking the title of Writing Center Consultant of the year in 2023 for my ability to help even the most challenging students become better writers. Every student can write, it`s just that some require more work to get better at it. The difficulties of writing are real, but when we work together, we can help break down what the trouble is the student is struggling with and overcome it. I was also part of a program called Teaching Fellows in which I was a Writing Center consultant for the first year and taught college English classes in the second year. The second year started with me teaching English 1101 in the fall semester and English 1102 during the spring semester. During this time, I developed and designed curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensure student engagement. I worked to develop both a syllabus that students could easily follow and lesson plans to develop student`s writing skills and critical thinking engagement. I made sure that all documentation was reported as necessary, worked with the Brightspace online education system to help connect to the students online, and held conferencing meetings to help students develop their writing plans and essays. I also taught them how to develop accurate citations and how to create a variety of essays and research papers so they would be prepared to write in any major they pursued.
