Michael

Mr. Michael is a dedicated husband, a devoted father and a compassionate grandfather. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, Michigan) in Cellular Molecular Biology and he obtained his teaching certificate from Marygrove College (Detroit, Michigan). Michael is certified to teach Chemistry and Biology at the Middle-School and High School levels. He has also been trained from the College Board to teach Advanced Placement Physics and Advanced Placement Chemistry. Michael holds a Master’s Degree in Education with a cognate in Educational Leadership from Marygrove College (Detroit, Michigan).

He is passionate about connecting with his students as well as enabling and inspiring them to embrace the challenges and joys of learning as they pursue their dreams and accomplish goals they have for themselves. As such, he loves to focus his teaching on students and their desire to involve students in deep learning centered around real problems and dynamic experiences. This focus has led to experiences that include an end-of the-year, Physics Carnival, Better Made Ice Cream and Chemistry-Based Escape Rooms as final projects to name a few.

Finally, Michael also has a passion for nurturing the passion in and inspiring fellow educators and others to pursue and perfect their ability to connect and teach their students. With that, he has developed and delivered several professional development workshops where student engagement is the focus!

Experience: Michael has 33+ years of teaching experience along with several years in STEM curriculum development and coordination. He has taught Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Advanced Placement Physics, Advanced Placement Chemistry, Physiology and Anatomy, Qualitative Analysis and Research and Development courses previously at Cass Technical High School (Detroit, Michigan) and currently at Skyline High School (Ann Arbor, Michigan). He has developed and implemented middle-school and high school summer engineering curriculum projects at the University of Michigan’s College of Engineering (Ann Arbor, Michigan).
