Ian

Hello, my name is Ian . I am a 26 years old from the Boston area, and I graduated from UMass Amherst with a degree in political economy and creative writing. My passions are martial arts, learning about the world, and connecting with individuals across different backgrounds and experiences. I recently moved to Tucson and am excited to explore a new region, gain an understanding of the border crisis, and make connections with students and families.

Experience: I have experience teaching English to Adults in NYC and Boston, and as a writing tutor for middle schoolers in NYC. Additionally I served as a peer mentor for 30 fellows taking a Gap year in Ecuador, and as a career counselor/case worker for members of the homeless community in Springfield Massachusetts. Lastly, while working at an in-patient psychiatric facility in Boston I served as a Mental Health Counselor for adults and teens. These experiences have given me a wide breadth of skills for connecting deeply with individuals in a variety of circumstance, while serving as a support for them to achieve their goals. My coursework in University and continued interest in politics, history and literature give me great expertise in supporting students in those subject areas.
