I`m originally from Connecticut and have lived in the Washington, DC area as well as Baltimore and have been in the Tampa area of Florida since 2009. I have a son who just graduated from high school. I have a BA in History from American University, a master`s in history from UMBC and graduate level coursework in learning disabilities and special education from Johns Hopkins. I enjoy traveling and have been to all fifty US states along with about twenty countries and am always looking for my next adventure.

Experience: I am a veteran middle and high school social studies and language arts teacher. I have also taught, been an intern, an assistant or a tutor at all grade levels from first through twelfth. I have also tutored undergraduates. I worked with students from highly gifted to average to those with developmental delays. Most of my experience is with dyslexia and those with related language based learning disabilities who are otherwise highly intelligent and talented. I have worked exclusively as a tutor since 2012 and mostly work with students one-on-one at their homes or at libraries and the like or online using platforms such as Zoom. I have training and experience with Orton-Gillingham, IEP`s, and 504 plans. I have also studied Montessori methods and a fan of the Montessori adolescent program approach to learning.
