Information about Nick

I have had many opportunities to develop strong analytical and communication skills through various jobs. While earning my B.S. in Applied Mathematics, I have worked as a shift lead in the Student Records and Registration office for the Curriculum Development unit as well as an Assistant Project Manager for the Online Curriculum Development offices. I have gained strong leadership and organizational skills. Both positions required immaculate attention to detail, as well as excellent communication skills, flexibility, independence, and problem-solving skills.

Availability: I am currently at a very flexible schedule as I am going to school online and can work to different schedules.

Willing to travel: 20 miles

Experience: Through my schooling I have been able to develop a solid background in statistics as well as a formidable background in programming with R. I have gained a significant understanding of R`s Tidyverse package and I believe it is extremely useful in the Data Science field. As part of my schooling I was able to be part of two different student lead consulting projects. The first was for BYU-Idaho, where I took the lead on finding a predictive model that later helped the university identify students who were at risk of going over a credit limit, as well as develop an intervention strategy for those students. The second project was for the Research and Business Development Center, a non profit organization in Rexburg, Idaho. For this project my team and I were tasked with finding a predictive model for weather’s effects on Southeastern Idaho’s potato yield. My job was to ensure that all weather and Southeastern Idaho potato data was imported, cleaned, merged, and organized in a way that would be appropriate for a regression analysis. I also assisted in the model selection process as well as creating the visualizations of our regression analysis to use in the presentation.
