My name is Steven , and I live in Charlotte, NC.

I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2003 with a degree in Japanese studies, and I received an MA degree from UC Berkeley in Asian Studies (Chinese History) in 2009. Since then, I have worked in international education at the college level. I worked in the Study Abroad Offices of the University of Illinois and UNC Chapel Hill from 2009 - 2013, and at the Institute of International Education (IIE) from 2014 - 2018.

Experience: I have experience teaching at both the high school and undergraduate levels. I taught high school English in China from 2005 - 2006 through Princeton-in-Asia. While pursuing my MA degree from UC Berkeley, I worked as a Graduate Student Instructor for a variety of undergraduate courses in the History and Asian Studies departments.

I also have extensive experience in student advising. As a Study Abroad Advisor at the University of Illinois and UNC Chapel Hill, my primary responsibilities were to advise students preparing to go abroad. This included selecting programs that were academically appropriate, course selection, and overall preparation to go abroad.

My primary area of teaching interest would be Chinese or English, either English literature, writing, or teaching English to non-native speakers. However, I am open to other humanities and social sciences fields.
