Information about Aldo

I graduated from Haverford College with a B.S. in Chemistry. The core of my classes were comprised of mathematics and science, such as calculus, laboratory work, physics, biology, and upper level chemistry and biology courses. Shortly after graduating, I obtained my first job in the pharmaceutical industry as a quality control chemist. I now have 7 years of experience working for the pharmaceutical industry and 1 year working for the cosmetic industry as a chemist. Although I`ve chosen to work for the private sector, I`ve always entertained the idea of teaching. Tutoring seems like a good compromise.

I`m a flexible and patient person. As such, I welcome any suggestions or questions students or parents might have. I`m easy to reach and able to respond within a short period of time.

A few facts about myself:

-I`m originally from California, but now reside in Arkansas

-I enjoy playing the piano and guitar as a hobby.

-I mostly listen to different genres of rock, jazz, and electronic music.

-I`ve become fond of cooking and have an interest in learning salsa dancing.

Experience: I was a resident adviser/tutor at the end of my sophomore and junior years for a summer bridge program designed to facilitate the transition to college for first generation college students. There were 10 students in the program who expressed an interest in pursuing STEM degrees. I would help these students with pre-algebra, algebra, biology, and chemistry homework. As an upperclassman, I also offered time management advice and advice on how to get ahead in college.

When the opportunity to tutor arose during my senior year of college, I didn`t hesitate to take it. The program was aimed at piquing the interest of inner city high school students in science. The program was designed to make learning science fun for these young students through activities illustrating basic chemistry and biology concepts. I was assigned two high school students. I also made a few chemistry presentations to the students enrolled in the program.
