Information about John

John has been "officially" tutoring Math and Statistics for 5+ years, but helping family and friends for decades (and often compensated with a delicious meal). John`s many years in the corporate world have been interesting and fulfilling, but he feels that nothing compares to the "Aha!" teaching moments when the light bulb goes on, and the student becomes visibly happier and more confident. He also feels that strong topical knowledge is wonderful and necessary, but it`s at least as important to be a good communicator, to really get to know a student and develop their best learning strategy. A Bachelor`s degree in Economics, Secondary degrees in Math and Statistics, and several successful Actuarial exams are the academic basis of John`s qualifications. Just as important, though, is the way he works with students to find their best individual path to success. John feels that everyone learns in their own way, and finding that way is the key to optimizing academic results. Lastly, John tries to maintain students` interest by using relatable, real-world examples, and sees great value in trying to make learning enjoyable - and yes, even fun!
