I have recently graduated with a BA in Sociology with a concentration in Social Inequality from UCSD. I plan to apply to a Ph.D program in education during the next admissions cycle. My research interests are deconstructing the Model Minority Myth, curriculum, instruction, assessment, student engagement, high school-to-college transition, public school reform, and teacher education. My professional goals are to follow in the footsteps of my mentors from UCSD: teach at the college level and expose traditionally marginalized students to research and academia. In my research, I will show the consequences the Model Minority Myth stereotype has on the everyday lives of Asian American students and families. UCSD Sociology of Education Research Apprenticeship || January 2023- March 2023 Worked on a research project alongside a professor and PH. D. candidate focused on the rise double majors and institutional characteristics that enable students to double major. Transferred data from IPEDS to SAS on demand, conducted a literature review on double majors, and contributed to the background and conclusion of the paper.
