Hello! My name is Julia. I am a bubbly, loving, and patient individual with over 12 years of childcare experience and a strong educational background. With three years of teaching and six years of tutoring experience spanning from elementary to high school, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a genuine passion for working with children. My background includes working with students with diverse needs, such as Down Syndrome, Autism, ADHD, ADD, IEPs, Dyslexia, behavioral disorders, and English language learners in public schools, private schools, and homeschool settings. I am dedicated to helping students achieve mastery in core subjects from pre-K to high school. Additionally, I offer tutoring services in Portuguese, Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, General Biology, Biochemistry, English, and Anatomy & Physiology at the collegiate level. Experience: My journey in childcare began at age 12 and has included various roles such as a Peer Mentor at South Elementary School in Mooresville, NC, where I helped students in the M2H program improve literacy and retention rates. This experience was rewarding, as it allowed me to make a meaningful impact on students` academic progress.

In high school, I enjoyed tutoring my peers and middle school students in a 1-on-1 setting in subjects such as pre-algebra, algebra, trigonometry, geometry, and statistics. Later, in 2020, I graduated with a B.A. in Anthropology and Portuguese from UNC at Chapel Hill while taking pre-med classes on the side and have continued my education with advanced science courses (biochemistry, organic chemistry, physics, etc.) from universities including UT: Austin, ACC, Arizona State University, Liberty University, and the University of North Dakota.

After graduation, I worked as a substitute teacher for various age groups, from preschoolers to eighth graders, covering core subjects and specialized areas such as art, P.E., and music. Given my diverse teaching and tutoring experience, I have developed a multifaceted approach to education that caters to the unique needs of each student, as I had to learn to teach classes where children are at different points in learning the curriculum. I also gained a comprehensive understanding of different learning styles and challenges. After school, I also enjoyed being a 1-on-1 tutor for the school I worked at. In my role as a volunteer tutor in an afterschool program, I provided both one-on-one and group support to kindergarteners up to seventh graders in English and Language Arts, Math, History, and Science. I used a variety of methods, including auditory, kinesthetic, and visual aids, to help students not only grasp complex concepts, but to also excel. For instance, I employed blocks to teach math principles and hands-on experiments to make scientific concepts more tangible and engaging.

In addition to my after school tutoring experience, I served as an ESL homeschool teacher, where I successfully guided a student from a pre-school to a second-grade reading level within just five months. This role required a tailored approach to address his specific needs learning English. As such, I created lesson plans and used diverse teaching strategies to facilitate his language acquisition and overall academic progress.

In addition to my childcare experience, I currently work in medicine and have over three years of experience in healthcare with CPR certification. My background in healthcare and childcare has equipped me with the skills to handle diverse needs and ensure a safe, supportive environment for children.
