Information about William

I am a 4th year undergraduate at University of Nebraska physics major (originally majored, for 2 years, in Circuits & Sensors: Agricultural Engineering which incorporates the disciplines of electrical and mechanical engineering into one major). I can help you succeed in your academic challenges.

Availability: By appointment only

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: I have been employed as an intern (100+ verifiable hours) from January through April 2011 at the fully accredited Parkview and Pius X High Schools in Lincoln, Nebraska, where I taught classes in AP Calculus on a prearranged, alternate basis, with a permanent faculty member. I have significant educational bonding with the young adults as evidenced by their anticipation of learning new material necessary to successfully pass a rapidly approaching national examination in AP Calculus. To a considerable degree, my didactic presentations dovetail with that of the primary teachers, but also differ by virtue of my earlier education at UNL when my course major of study was engineering. I have been successfully able to draw on all my previous educational experience and teach an AP Calculus course at Parkview and Pius X not simply from the perspective of mathematical computation, but rather from the perspective of useful applications. This method of presentation to students has demonstrably reinvigorated some once lethargic students into those who anxiously await my next internship presentation. My ability to transfer meaningful information to those calculus classes derives not only from my four academic years at UNL but from a few, very special teachers in mathematics and physics at the small prep school that I attended in Washington state.

Woven into my high school experiences were summer sessions during which time advanced concepts in mathematics and physics were learned while living in Princeton, New Jersey (Hun School), Pennsylvania (Penn State), and Massachusetts (Phillips Academy). My skill and ability to teach the subjects of calculus and physics are verifiable at both Parkview and Pius X High Schools, and I would welcome your inquiries at both these institutions. As a keen observer of behavioral psychology, I am fully aware of the different approaches to teaching a course such as AP Calculus to students who learn differently and assimilate material at different rates. Eureka moments, indeed, do exist and I know fully how to evoke that sought-after response.

Let`s see what we can accomplish together
