Information about Domnall

Being a Lefty, I am right-brained—analytical, detail-oriented and creative. My favored recreational sports of pool/billiards, volleyball, soccer, racquetball, ping-pong, bowling and weight-training require concentration and study of detail. Earth science intrigues me with how everything ties together environmentally and inspires my desire to participate in taking care of the earth. Naturally, I collect rocks and minerals and fossils as well__ they’re historical records written into rocks and it’s fun trying to imagine what was going on when they were formed. My field is history, with a bachelor’s degree in the same. Thus, I have a thing for hanging out in libraries and have something of a library of my own. I enjoy finding my books and other great stuff in old bookstores and flea markets. Some unique interests for me in history include old-time radio, vintage aircraft, folklore and mythology, genealogy and other cultures. Travel happens when I can and I aspire to learn other languages. Being into other cultures has influenced my music collection. I listen to classical and various kinds of ethnic music, ranging from Indian and Celtic to classic R and B. More out of nostalgia, I do listen to 80’s rock and pop of my generation. Foreign films are a thing for me and these days, it’s Bollywood! I do watch some stuff coming out of Hollywood—it just depends on what it is. My creative side comes out on paper in pencil and oil-pastel crayon. Free-verse is my poetry and I’m frequently influenced by those other cultures I enjoy. Additional inspiration can be found in the night sky, the ocean surf and hikes.

Contemporaries and friends often describe me as being studious and detail-oriented. I attempt to learn everything I can regarding a subject, whether person, place, thing, or idea. Thus, I strive to be sensitive to individual people’s needs. This endeavor is based upon my spirituality, which stresses doing what is right by others. I labor to innovate solutions to people`s needs by utilizing my creative and artistic abilities. When others are helped, they’re encouraged to help someone else in turn. On a broader scale, community is constructed, individual by individual and understanding is encouraged.
Each student possesses an individual learning style developed within a unique composite of experiences and interests. I access the student`s needs and learning style and then proceed to convey ideas and concepts from their standpoint. My primary teaching method is to visually demonstrate, on paper or blackboard, how these ideas and concepts connect and function together.
