I am writing to express interest in a teaching position in either the business or sociology departments at your university and was prompted to do so after reviewing open job positions on your website. I am looking for a teaching position that will provide me with beneficial experience in the academic environment that I can add value to with my skills and education.

I am highly qualified for an online professor position. I will graduate with a PhD in Sociology from Virginia Tech in May 2014. I plan to embark on a fulltime teaching career at the college level. My academic and professional career began in the business field in which I have 11 years of experience in performance scorecard management, employee training, financial analysis, and strategic development. I pursued a PhD in sociology because the field is immensely intriguing and provides a rich environment for ongoing research. My degrees in business and sociology are the perfect blend of two compatible fields that give me a distinct advantage in academia and the business sector. That is, I have a diverse portfolio of education and experience that enriches a deep understanding of two diverse, yet highly related fields.

I have a great deal of experience teaching sociology and business courses at Virginia Tech and at several Virginia Community Colleges. I have more than 5 years of online and face-to-face college-level teaching experience. My teaching experience also extends internationally in May, I travel to China as the assistant professor to a study abroad program hosted by Virginia Tech. I have a strong reputation for connecting with my students, which was a leading factor of why I was chosen to not only teach a senior-level business management course, but entrusted to lead students through an exploration of Chinese culture.
