Information about Caitlin
I love teaching and have always loved math and science, but I know these subjects can be daunting for other students. I am great at explaining things in different ways for all types of learners. I have found that many students just need some encouragement and something explained a little differently for it to click.
Hobbies: I love the outdoors. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, biking, running, and hanging out with my dog. I also enjoy cooking, yoga, and music. I also love animals. I have two cats and a dog.
Availability: Flexible
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: I have over 8 years of private tutoring experience in math and science. In addition to tutoring privately, I taught Algebra 2 and tutored Algebra 1 for a summer program, called Upward Bound, at UC Berkeley. I also volunteered my time to tutor at Upward Bound during the school year and taught leadership workshops to high school students at Upward Bound. I have extensive experience tutoring students for the SAT and preparing students to apply to top universities. I also interned at Berkeley High School in a Biology classroom, where I learned more about the intricacies of teaching a diverse group of students. I also had the opportunity to write and teach my own lesson plan in the classroom.
Also, I completed 9 months of Biology research at University of California, San Francisco. I received the Berdahl`s Future Leaders Scholarship at UC Berkeley for outstanding leadership potential. I also participated in a very selective internship at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA for pre-medical students. I was published in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA Impact Newsletter. I am also CPR certified and worked as an Emergency Medical Technician.
