Information about Leonardo

As a kid in my high school years I was not amongst the brightest academic students. My passion was in music, not books. There were many times I struggled to do well in my exams. I was lazy for the most part, but gifted with parents that always knew to push me. My father, a structural engineer, was one I always considered a genius. In the Univ. of Miami in my college years I was not able to pursue a path of music but developed a deep love for mathematics and sciences, thanks to my father. I graduated UM with degrees in Math and Meteorology, but was unhappy with Meteorology and in later years attended Florida International University for a Masters in Structural Engineering like my dad. Upon graduating the first time from UM however, the frustration of not having studied what I enjoyed in Meteorology led me to teaching/tutoring. I began tutoring Math and Physics as a hobby and found out I was better at teaching these than ever I was even as a musician. I thoroughly enjoyed it and tutoring became my main source of income for many years until I became a Structural Engineer - it was continued as a hobby in most years to follow.

In retrospect, I feel I became a successful tutor precisely because I was able to connect with the struggling student, having been one myself. I knew their perspectives and complications, their angles of thought, and where and what they were bound to be confused about. I recognized the pitfalls and "blockages" even before they would happen. It instilled in me much sympathy, patience, clarity, enthusiasm, and creativity in my methods of teaching. There is no better feeling of accomplishment than when a former student approaches and hugs me, thanking me for the help they could not find anywhere else - now a more mature, confident kid than what I started with.

It would be an honor and privilege if you would allow me this opportunity to continue this joy of mine through your tutoring platform.

Availability: I am available most every day, usually from noon to midnight. I enjoy teaching/tutoring and make myself available for more time if necessary.
